Got an older bike lying around that could use an update? Maybe you’d like to replace the fork with something a little lighter, a little more modern? That’s where Whisky is hoping to help out with their newest carbon forks. With modern performance but sizing and standards that will fit classic bikes, the new forks will allow you to get a bit fancy with your ride.

Starting with the No. 7 Straight RD fork, this one is designed to be the perfect replacement fork for most road bikes with a straight 1 1/8″ steerer tube. Built around a 367mm axle to crown measurement and 45mm rake, the fork offers clearance for up to 700c x 30mm tires.

Given the bikes that this fork will likely end up on, the No. 7 Straight RD uses 9 x 100mm QR dropouts with hidden fender mounts. With a claimed weight of 370g, the fork will sell for $370 and is available now.

Another fork with a 1 1/8″ straight steerer designed as a replacement option for older bikes, the No. 9 CX Disc 12 Straight fork will allow you to upgrade an older CX bike to disc brakes with a 12 x 100mm thru axle up front. The fork has a 397mm Axle to Crown measurement, and offers 43mm of tire clearance while maintaining 6mm of mud room.

Also featuring hidden fender mounts, the fork uses flat mount front brake calipers with external cable routing, or you can use an adapter to run a standard caliper. Priced at $520, the fork is available now.

Lastly, Whisky has a new fork for other oddball frames – specifically those with 1 1/4″ tapered head tubes. The No. 9 RD Fork measures 367mm from axle to crown with a 45mm rake, and will clear up to 700c x 30mm tires.

I’d love to see carbon disc fork with a straight 1 1/8″ steerer, an a-c length of around 440-450 and clearance for say, 50mm tires. Given all the great 650b tire options out there now, a fork like this could help repurpose many a hardtail 26″ MTB frame to a slick gravel machine. I saw an Indy Fab Deluxe frame recently that had my wheels turning on what I could do with it…if only I could find a suitable fork.

Having a hard time getting my head around the last one. 1-1/4″ tapered head tube? Seems too specific. How many bikes are out there with this standard and among their owners, how many will pay $560 for a fork upgrade?

Whisky’s cost from the Chinese manufacturer is probably <<$100 therefore they probably ordered a run of 10 forks, if they sell a few they profit, if they don't, no big deal. FWIW I am happy they are supporting older/unique frames.

You can run a 1 1/4″ fork on any tapered steer tube. Some run the smaller 1 1/4″ in place of 1 1/2″ for more “compliance”. I appreciate the 1 1/8″ steer tubes in over sized head tubes as it is still plenty “stiff” with a little compliance. In saying so, this can hit a very large market.

why would anyone pay $500 for the same open mold fork you can get around $100 on aliexpress or eBay?

Perhaps they have a high deductible health plan. I’m not putting a hundred dollar fork on my bike unless it says Surly.

if anyone can tell me what size 650b tires fits in the No.9 CX that would be fantastic. Could be a good option for the Monsoon.

2.1 Thunder Burt fits with 3mm on either side on a 25mm rim.

Does anyone know if a 2.1″ 29er Thunder Burt will fit? Trying to figure out if the fork is tall enough… know it would be a tight squeeze either way. Thanks!

Ballz. 6 months too late. Already upgraded my crappy alu fork on my crappy Charge to a Ritchey. No thru-axle. No fender mounts. Would have absolutely bought a No. 9 CX Disc 12.

Although it should also have a front dynamo light mount…
