Wide range, 1x gearing isn’t going away any time soon. Instead, it is slowly expanding into more and more affordable drivetrains. Sure, SRAM seems to be leading the way, but a number of other companies like MicroSHIFT are pumping out more affordable options. With their new XCD cassettes, you can get even more range for fewer dollars.

Compared to cassettes like their 10 speed 11-42, the new 11-46 uses 7075 T6 aluminum for the two largest cogs (40 and 46t). MicroSHIFT tells us that their manufacturing process stamps and forges the steel rings at the same time which ensures a strong, straight cog, while their Sliding Engagement Technology results in accurate shifting.

Available in two versions, the higher end CS-G113 model uses an aluminum spider to reduce the weight. The CS-H113 uses a spiderless design which results in a less expensive, but heavier cassette.

Offering 11-13-15-18-21-24-28-32-36-40-46 gear progression, the cassettes will sell for $60 for the spiderless CS-H113, and $100 for the lighter CS-G113, both available in April.

Microshift is missing a good market for 1x road systems at the OEM level. I can see a good market place for 1x on entry level bikes and Microshift has already made decent headway into the OEM budget bike market it seems bizzare they’d develop this but nothing for a road marketplace begging for super cheap 1x groupsets.

the road marketplace is not begging for super cheap 1x groupsets.

502g and 619g are the weights.. Those things are heavy as @#%^.. Might as well just buy a 60.00 XT cassette and shave 100-200g off and have it be tougher. The XT cassette is a tank as well but not quite as bad as these.. 433g for the XT and cheaper rpice.

$60, where? Maybe for one of the smaller cog 8000 cassettes, but $75-80 seems pretty normal. Which is less than SRP at that, so the Microshift stuff will likely retail for less too. (Not to mention the appalling spacing on Shimano’s 46t cassette.)

That’s for 11spd HG freehub only. 10spd only 11-46T. Both work with either Shimano or SRAM systems. Love Sunrace cassettes. EBay is best source for 11spd Sunrace cassette.

I think 1x groupsets are great for low-end road bikes, hybrid, and commuter bikes.

Not only heavy, but also with sh***y gear ratios – 15 to 18? That’s 20% on the high gears, which is too big of a jump. Got the same on my CSMX3 cassette and while the latter is 10s so it’s justified, here we have one more gear, that they used to lower the gap between bigger cogs – completely pointless…
